Next Sunday, November 28th , the 1st phase of the Fuvest 2011 Entrance Exam will take place, which selects students for courses at the University of São Paulo (USP) and the Faculty of Medical Sciences of Santa Casa de São Paulo. Read below the instructions for the day of the test and tips from teachers at Oficina do Estudante, a partner of Brasil Escola.
Time
The tests for the 1st phase of the 2011 Entrance Exam start Special Data at 1pm, with school gates opening at 12:30pm. There are 60 locations in greater São Paulo, 49 in the interior of the state, in addition to the cities of Curitiba, Brasília and Belo Horizonte.
Candidates are advised to arrive at the test locations in advance. It is also important to visit the exam site the day before, as there are almost 133 thousand people registered.

The candidate will only be able to leave the exam room after 4pm. The closing of the 1st phase will be at 6pm.
What to take
The candidate must bring their identity document, blue or black ballpoint pen, eraser, water and food.
What not to take
While at the exam site, candidates are prohibited from carrying beepers, pagers, cell phones, calculators, computers or any telecommunications equipment. Hats and caps should also be left at home.
Failure to comply with these rules may result in the candidate being disqualified from the Fuvest 2011 Entrance Exam.
Evidences
The exam will contain 90 questions and will cover all the subjects of the mandatory common core of High School: Portuguese, Mathematics, History, Physics, Geography, Chemistry, Biology, English and will have some Interdisciplinary questions. Each question will be worth one point, therefore, the maximum score in this test will be 90.
Candidates who obtain less than 22 points will be automatically eliminated from the competition. The grade from the first phase will only be used as a criterion for the candidate's progression to the second phase, and will therefore not be computed in the final average.
